The 12th International Flash Flood Programme Symposium (FFP12) and
Flash Flood Disaster Prevention Training was held in Hangzhou from November 20
to 22, hosted by IWHR, and co-organized by the Research Center on Flood &
Drought Disaster Prevention and Reduction of the Ministry of Water Resources, IRTCES,
and Zhejiang Institute of Hydraulics & Estuaries. The event themed
"New Approaches to Flash Flood Prevention under Digital Twin Technology
Systems" convened over 40 domestic and international experts to address
cutting-edge scientific issues in flash flood disaster prevention amid the
development of digital twin river basins, exploring practical new concepts,
approaches, technologies, methods, and initiatives.

Mr. CHENG Fuyun, Second-class Counselor of the Department of Flood
and Drought Disaster Prevention, the Ministry of Water Resources; Mr. DING
Liuqian, Vice President of IWHR; and Mr. CHEN Yexing, Member of the Party Leadership
Group and Chief Engineer of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Water Resources, attended
the event and delivered remarks. The symposium was chaired by Mr. PENG Wenqi,
Chief Engineer of IWHR, with Mr. Philippe Gourbesville, President of the
International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research
(IAHR), declaring the event open.
During the symposium, over 10 experts from China and abroad shared
insights and case studies on flash flood prevention. IWHR also launched its
independently developed "Rainstorm Flash Flood Simulation and Early
Warning Model".
Participants conducted on-site investigations in Lingcunwu Natural
Village of Luniao Town and Liangtingtou Natural Village of Jingshan Town in
Yuhang District, Hangzhou.
