The 15th International Conference on Hydroinformatics
(HIC2024) was held in Beijing from May 27 to 29. This congress was jointly
hosted by the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China
(MWR), the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and
Research (IAHR), and the International Water Association (IWA), organized by the
China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), and
co-sponsored by the International Research and Training Center on Erosion and
Sedimentation (IRTCES). Nearly 500 representatives from government departments,
universities, scientific research institutions, international organizations and
water-related enterprises from 34 countries and regions attended the
conference.
On May 28, the Plenary Session II of the 15th HIC was
held. Peng Jing, President of IWHR, attended the conference and delivered a keynote
speech on “Bridging Natural and Digital Waters: Harnessing the Power of
Technology.”.
Prof. Liu Xiaoying from IRTCES participated in the
conference and made a presentation on “Study on the Effect of Water and Sand
Reduction and Critical Threshold of Soil and Water Conservation in Sanchuan
River Basin”. The conference also released the “Beijing Initiative on Digital
Twin Water Resources Action”, calling for global cooperation to jointly promote
the construction, application and promotion of Digital Twin Water Resources.
The Conference also featured the “China Digital Twin Water
Resource Effectiveness Exhibition” and technical exhibitions from different
organizations.
The International
Conference on Hydroinformatics is a series of international academic
conferences initiated by the Joint Committee on Hydroinformatics, established
jointly by the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and
Research (IAHR) and the International Water Association (IWA). It is held
biennially on a rotating basis among the continents and has become an important
regular exchange mechanism in the field of international hydroinformatics.
