The World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research (WASER) announced the election results for its 7th Council (2022–2025). Professor Helmut Habersack (Austria) was elected as President, while Professor LIU Cheng (China), Professor Subhasish Dey (India), and Professor WU Weiming (USA) were elected as Vice Presidents. A number of experts from around the world were also elected as Council Members. 

The new Council will be formally approved at the 7th WASER Council and General Assembly of members to be held this year. Several Chinese experts will join the new Council, including: 

- Professor LIU Guangquan (IRTCES), Secretary-General; 

- Professor LIU Cheng (IRTCES), Vice President; 

- Professor HE Qing (East China Normal University), Council Member; 

- Associate Professor XU Mengzhen (Tsinghua University), Council Member; 

- Professor FANG Hongwei (Tsinghua University), Council Member; 

- Professor ZHANG Wensheng (Hydrology Department of the Ministry of Water Resources), Council Member; 

- Professor WANG Zhaoyin (retired from Tsinghua University), former President (5th and 6th terms), Council Member.
