On May 11th, 2016, Mr. Zhou Xuewen, Vice Minister of Water Resources, met Flavia Schlegel, Assistant Director General of natural sciences in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Two sides deeply exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the fields of International Sediment Research and Training Center (IRTCES), International Hydrological Programme (IHP), etc.
Vice Minister Zhou pointed out that Ministry of Water Resources and UNESCO had been carrying out the long-term, friendly and pragmatic cooperation in the establishment and development of International Sediment Research and Training Center (IRTCES) et al., and he suggested that both sides should continue the deep cooperation in the future.
Flavia Schlegel highly evaluated the measures and achievements of the Chinese government in the management and protection of water resources in recent years, and expressed her gratitude for the long-term support of Ministry of Water Resources. She stated that she was confident with the further cooperation and willing to consolidate the current cooperation results.
Officials from relevant departments also attended the meeting.
