The ISI Steering Committee Core Member Meeting was held in the International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) in Beijing on August 5 – 6, 2014. Participants include：

In the meeting, the past ISI activities and achievements, and ISI Technical Secretariat were reviewed. The ISI objectives and overall strategy were reviewed and refocused. ISI contributes towards the 8th phase of IHP (2014-2021) with the title “Water security: responses to local, regional and global challenges” by addressing the wide-ranging social, economic and environmental impacts of erosion, sediment transport and sedimentation processes with due consideration of gender perspectives. ISI addresses both sediment quantity and quality within the context of global change. The meeting recognized the need to reorganize ISI’s governing structure in order to ensure the continued efficient coordination of the initiative. Future priorities and initiatives, such as ISI website updating, training workshop, updating guidelines for case studies, undertaking new case studies and revising past case studies, joint activities with other UNESCO programmes, centres and chairs, and developing guidelines and best practices with partners and donors, were discussed.
