IRTCES visits UN GEMS/Water Office |
IRTCES NEWS: Programme (UN GEMS/Water) Office located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada on December 7, 2012, together with Prof. Chen Jianguo and Prof. Liu Cheng, IRTCES Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief. Ms. Yvonne Stokker and Ms. Kelly Hodgson, Quality Assurance Specialist and Data Specialist of the GEMS/Water Office welcomed the IRTCES’ visit. Both sides shared programme activities and experiences of database construction and maintenance, and looked forward to future collaborations of mutual interests.
GEMS/ WATER is an international programme on water quality monitoring and assessment, jointly implemented by UNEP, WHO, UNESCO and WMO. Established in 1978, the GEMS/Water Programme is the primary source for global water quality data. GEMStat is designed to share surface and ground water quality data sets collected from the GEMS/Water Global Network, including more than 3,700 stations, close to 4.3 million records, and over 100 parameters.
