Landslide on bank of Yangtze River worsens
Release time: 2009-04-07

Landslide on a section of the bank of China's Yangtze River has worsened, local officials said Saturday.

A portion of the river's southern bank in Guling township, Yunyang County of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has been found dislocated from the rest of the bank since November last year. The dislocation quickened pace in recent days, said an official of the Yunyang County Administration for Land, Resources and Property.

He said 55 people living on the sliding portion, called the Liangshuijing landslide, have been evacuated.

Under the impact of heavy rainfall, the landslide may drift into the river, he said.
