IRTCES NEWS (Nov.25, 2006): The Second Sino-American Workshop on Advanced Computational Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering was successfully held from Nov.25 through 26 in Beijing of China. This Workshop was jointly organized by the International Research and Training Centre on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) and the National Centre for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering of the University of Mississippi (NCCHE). About 80 scientists and engineers from the United States, the Netherlands, United Kingdoms, France and China attended the event. The third Workshop will be held in Hawaii, USA in 2009.
This Workshop is the following up output of the cooperative agreement between the International Research and Training Centre on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) and the National Centre for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering of the University of Mississippi (NCCHE), the first output is the first US-China Workshop on Advanced Computational Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering, which was held on September 19-23, 2005 at the University of Mississippi successfully. About 50 Scientists and experts from leading institutions and universities of both countries involved in hydroscience and engineering research and management presented their state of the art contributions at the workshop. All participants benefited much from the technical exchange and discussion at the workshop.
The Second Workshop is for continuing promotion of scientific exchange in the field of computational modeling in hydroscience and engineering. It is expected that the continuing of exchange of ideas, information and latest findings between hydroscience and engineering researchers in China and US shall significantly advance the forefront of the state of the art in computational modeling research technology as well as in hydroscience and engineering in both countries, and benefit the professionals worldwide.
