IRTCES NEWS: The Bureau of Hydrology, Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) organized annual meeting of reading and editing “Chinese Gazette on River Sediment” on July 29, 2006. Over 20 specialists from the Bureau of Hydrology, the IRTCES, and basin organizations attended the meeting. Mr. Cai Jianyuan, Vice Director General of the Bureau was presented and addressed at the meeting. He firstly, welcomed specialists for the meeting and, then, pointed out that “Chinese Gazette on River Sediment” has been emphasizing by the leaders of the MWR, and it will be more directly and completely open to the society for further contribution in the afterwards and finally, expressed his thanks to editing group for their laborious work.

Vice Director of the IRTCES, Vice President of the IWHR, Dr. Hu Chunhong also addressed at the meeting. He said that the quality and contents of the Gazette have becoming better and better since its first issue published in 2001. The Gazette in 2005 will be officially published in order to extend its influence, and the IRTCES will make more efforts in coordination and compilation.

During the meeting, the editing group presented draft of the Gazette for 2005 and

the specialists  provided their very good suggestions and comments for revision of

the drafts. The editing group will make further efforts to modify the draft soon after

the meeting.
