Secretary General of IRTCES, Dr. Prof. Hu Chunhong and his retinue including Division Chief, Dr. Wang Yangui, and Deputy Division Chief, Dr. Liu Cheng visited Pearl River Water Resources Research Institute. They had a friendly discussion with the counterparts of the institute and reached consensus regarding setting up the third Research and Experimental Base of IRTCES in the institute, co-organizing Second International Conference on Estuaries and Coasts and strengthening cooperation and exchanges. 

Pearl River Water Resources Institute was established in 1979 with a total of 150 scientific researchers. It has played a very important role in studying the problems on water resources as well as problems of runoff and sediment in the south part of China .

 The establishment of the third Research and Experimental Base in this institute will continually build the capacity of IRTCES. With other two bases of IRTCES established earlier in Jingjiang and Hangzhou , the three bases will reflect the problems of water resources and its technical characteristics in the north, south and central parts of China . They will play a significant role in expanding the scope of research and training of IRTCES, and guiding the study on runoff and sediment in China .
