To better promote the development of the cause of World soil and water conservation, the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC) decided to to organize a major international academic conferences, once every three years on a regular basis and the first and second conference were successfully held in 2010 , in Xi 'an in China and 2013, and Thailand's Chiang rai respectively.
